But does the word organizing send you chills?
You know your life and home are presently a mess, but you are having a tough time overcoming the deluge called clutter!
I know this feeling very well! I too faced this situation a couple of years back and in those days the mere idea of organizing made me want to do nothing! It was messy due to a lack of focus and proper planning.
Pin to save for later.
You know organizing does not have to be so difficult when we all know that we are not born a master of organizing at all! But to be organized it does take time and a routine.
It is the simple daily habits that make you start getting into that flow of liking the act to organize and finding it very streamlined at the same time. Organizing will help you to get out of the life rut and make you more productive in achieving your goals.
You might be wondering how will you even begin organizing without having any ideas about how to stay organized and why you need organizing.
Then you may want to keep on reading this post!
To take the first step in organizing you have to ask yourself what is that you seriously want in your life.
Without a proper goal in life, your organization process is stalled. This is the very first part of organizing your life.
I call it–
The Three Golden Rules for Organizing Your Life:
1. Know what you want to do in life – set your goal (you may have more than one goal in your life).
2. Write it down on paper or a digital device so that you can see it any time you wish. Writing your goals will make it more tangible for you to see any time you want to relate to them.
3. Take action towards your goals – Setting goals on paper and not taking a single action will not get you anywhere. Start with breaking your bigger goals into smaller actionable steps so that you find them easy and achievable to accomplish.
This will help you to be at ease and flow when you are a novice in organizing.
Now let us come to that WHY? part of organizing.
Why do you need to be organized?
You see your life cannot be organized if you have a mess in your mind.
The mental organization is directly related to your home and life organization. Any mess around you is going to have a reflection on your life too.
A messed up environment is sure to take a heavy toll on your mental space!
Clean and clutter free surroundings are going to have a positive impact on your mindset. You will start feeling that high vibes to take up any challenge in your life.
Because you will feel more with having minimal in your life.
A clear, organized mind is the solution for you to become productive and organized in every part of your life and home.

Relax and slow down. We cannot succeed in doing something when we rush to get it done all in one go.
It is better for you to take up one or two areas in your life to start organizing to avoid any overwhelm or stress.
As you go into the practice of clearing the mess around you, with time and discipline you will be a pro when it comes to organizing!

Make a to-do list:
Creating a daily to-do list will give you a clear idea of what you need to organize in a day.
It is the most basic way to start organizing your life as you have a clear picture of the tasks you need to accomplish in a day.
This list can have anything from your life and home. From this daily to-do list, you can plan your days to come.
Create a planner:
A planner can be your life saver if you start to use it as a habit.
Plan your days, weeks, and months to come as per your choice. Your appointments, tasks, events can be easily organized in your planner. In this way, you stay ahead of your planning with the expectations of what you need to organize.
Using a planner will also minimize the chance of error or forgetfulness!
Declutter your surroundings:
This is a favorite one of mine which used to make me antsy. You know Decluttering is an art that can be easily done with proper scheduling!
But avoid complete decluttering at one go once every week. This will surely make you overwhelmed and tired by the time you are even done with one room of your sweet home.
What I follow is to make a cleaning schedule to target a space on a certain day.
You can even write it on paper at your convenience. Stick this to an area where you and your family members can easily make a note of.
This way you can even make others participate with your joint home decluttering.
Below is a schedule just to give you an example idea:
Sunday – Bedroom: closet inside and outside (if you have many try to break the arranging process into small parts and allocate it on any other day). Throw or better donate clothes, shoes, or accessories you have never worn for more than a year, clear those shelves, and use closet organizers or utility dividers to ease up your organizing.
Monday – Bedroom: clean bed, clean bedding, empty drawer, shelves, clean ceiling fans, windowsills, air conditioners, mirrors, etc.
Tuesday – Living room: Move and clear unused items from furniture, clean and mop the floor, throw unused paper, magazines, documents from all corners, drawers, shelves or cabinets, and clean lights, fans, and decors.
Wednesday – Kitchen: Clean and mop the floor, clean the cabinets, shelves, scrub the kitchen walls, kitchen sink, celling, lights, wash dusting clothes, and rugs.
Thursday – Kitchen: Clear and clean the pantry. Wash and clean the boxes, jars, baskets, and throw the expired items from the pantry.
Friday – Appliances: I kept the appliances separate and did not club them into the declutter of the kitchen part as this organization will take at least a day to accomplish!
So deep clean your television, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine thoroughly. Discard and declutter anything unused items or trash.
Saturday – Miscellaneous: Clean your porch, shoe rack, and drop zone the first place in your home where you keep your keys, umbrella or jackets. Clean the exterior and interior of your car, declutter your garden (if you have any)
Following a schedule will help you stay organized and make your home cleaning process a success.
But remember to take this as fun, if you find daily decluttering a painful act then customize or better take a break in between to avoid lethargy and monotony.
Ultimately it is your house that needs your TLC!
Create a routine:
Organization is like a daily habit. When you do something every day as a habit it becomes a regular part of your life.
Creating a routine for cleaning and organizing your home, office, and life is going to make you more productive and disciplined in what you want to achieve in your life.

Keep things in their exact place:
I hope you are certainly not that person who keeps stationery items in a kitchen pantry box! Or clothes in a refrigerator!
No, you are not:)
When you keep specific items in their exact place from where they are being taken out and used, you minimize the chances of forgetting to find them the next time you need them.
This is something I am saying from my personal experience when I was unable to track my things when in need.
So, organize all items in your life and house in their proper place where they belong. This will make your space neat and clutter-free zone.
Organize your purse:
A purse is an important area which can contain our whole world!
We all have the habit of dumping everything into our purses anyway only to make it a clutter zone with unused trash lying in it for days, months, or years!!
Ditch that stashing habit and declutter your purse by throwing away those old receipts, papers, unused trinkets, any broken accessories you have kept in a hurry, stale half-eaten snacks…yikes! or expired makeup products, expired feminine hygiene products!
Organize your life by investing in a purse that has dividers to accommodate all your vital items which you can reach out to very easily.
Track your budget:
You will easily organize your life if you succeed in organizing in keeping track of your daily budget.
Make a simple planner or tracker you get and start planning your finances!
If creating and using a tracker is something, you do not find comfortable to use then simply write your daily sources of income on one side and your expenditures on the other. The balance will give you either in negative or a positive.
This way you can track your monthly and yearly budget so that you know where you will be spending and how much you are going to save.
Budgeting is a great way to organize your life and reach your financial target!
Clean out your digital devices, and inbox:
Clean your computer folders to delete all those piled-up unwanted and forgotten files, photos, and documents. This is a favorite of mine to create more space in the device.
Make separate folders to arrange all necessary files so that you find it easy to locate a file in a hurry.
Unsubscribe from those emails that remain unopened for many days signaling that it is time for you to say goodbye! Spare your email inbox from the clutter.
And please delete those thousands of unused screenshots and messages that I am sure you do have on your phone, which are driving your pretty device nuts with daily notifications saying, ‘ your storage is full clean the device’.
This organization hack makes it easy for you to locate any file when you use your digital devices like a computer or phone a lot.
Clean it now:
Instead of waiting for the perfect time to clean a clutter, you can do it right after using that item.
For example, right after waking up in the morning avoid leaving the room without making your bed.
An untidy bed is not at all welcoming after you return at the end of your day.
Clean your bed just after you get up so that it remains clean to use again.
It is quite dreadful for me to clean all piled up items for a week in a single day!
To keep your space organized and tidy, clean the mess at that spot moment without waiting.
This is a very smart and quick way to organize your life.
Create a password list:
Organize your life by creating a password list which is seriously very important if you are someone who works on a computer and phone a lot.
Keeping a password tracker in print or digital format will be a lifesaver when you are muddling through your email or app sign-in process.
Organize your medicine and hygiene box:
Many a time I have run short of hygiene products or medicines for not storing them well in advance, which has now made me organize my necessaries in bulk at easy reach.
Avoid running short of your medicines and hygiene products to give yourself peace of mind when that need arrives.
Declutter your medicine boxes by throwing away expired items and stock up everything in advance so that you are not left to scramble at the very last moment!
Keep a meal plan with a weekly menu:
Create your meal plan in order to save money and wasting your pantry items.
Plan your meals according to your wish for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
Also, look for quick & easy to cook healthy meals to save you time and energy.
You can find a lot of ideas on Pinterest with your meal plans.
Do not forget to add a little bit of variety to your meals to avoid any meal monotony.
Cook your weekly meals in a single day or another to have a stress-free time of your life.
A well-balanced weekly meal plan is beneficial for your health as well as your pocket!
A win-win situation.
Organize your grocery shopping:
Your grocery shopping must be in sync with your weekly meal plan.
Organize your grocery as per your shopping list.
Avoid buying any item on impulse that will only increase your unused item list in the pantry rather than decluttering it.
For any grocery items, you can make it a bi-monthly shopping visit to your store or market.
For perishable items, weekly shopping will help to stay organized saving you a lot of time.
A well-planned grocery will help you to keep your kitchen pantry neat and organized.
Organize your working desk:
Declutter your working space by cleaning your computer, desk, drawers, and rearranging your files, papers, stationery in proper order.
Throw any trash out of that space, and use a desk divider where you sort your files, papers in drawers, and a separate holder for stationery items.
Clean those table lights, photo frames, wall art any other desk accessories inside and outside.
I spend most of my time on my working desk space and regularly make it a point to clean all before starting my day. It feels like a place of peace.
Keeping your desk area neat and organized will set a positive mood throughout your day.
A clean and uncluttered working area will help you to focus on your work without feeling anxious about your surroundings.
These are the ways you may want to organize your life and home.
Take your time to adopt any of the hacks if you are just starting out.
Always remember with proper planning and action steps you can find organizing a basic part of your lifestyle.
