How daily gratitude practice helps to become a better person in life

Life always put us in many circumstances where we are constantly being tested to prove our durability.

Chances are we tend to forget to show gratitude when we come out of those tough times. This post will help you to show you how daily gratitude practice helps to become a better person in life along with the reason behind showing gratitude.

So often human beings take our lives for granted. We cave for having another person’s life we find alluring, negating the gift of life we have been blessed with. We forget what we have presently.

The simple pleasure of life often goes unnoticed as we focus on the daily negatives.

I too suffered from having a negative attitude towards life a few years back. Constantly complaining about small things did not help me to alter any situation rather making everything around me more negative.

So, the negatives propelled other negatives until it left me feeling demotivated and unhappy most of the time.

But I was always looking for some break in my behavior as the ‘Fire’ hiding in me was asking me to change and come out of that life rut. Only then did I find a small piece of advice from a doctor whom I met by chance, and it moved me a lot to finally change my mindset and thought pattern toward life.

FAITH in GRATITUDE.

The brief but mighty advice she gave me was that:

You should always be hopeful and grateful to God for everything you are being blessed with right now in your life. Try to see your life from a positive perspective by shifting your lacking mindset into a fulfilling one. You will see a huge difference in your life by practicing daily gratitude to God. Start trying it today!

And why did I follow her words?

It is in human behavior that you often need some nudge to a positive direction from another person to get started with what you have been holding back for a long time.

My right direction to positivity and introduction to the power of gratitude practice came from a stranger. And for this blessing I am grateful!

However, practicing gratitude needs consistency and intention. You cannot move on fifth gear. To develop a habit, you need time and discipline to finally make that part of your lifestyle.

I started very small with my gratitude mantra practice and slowly made it a habit and now a lifestyle.

To understand the magic of gratitude, we must first know what you mean by gratitude and the benefits of adding gratitude to your life.

Take everything slow as this is a life-changing process that needs time to shift your mindset!

5 ways to practice daily gratitude in your life:

1. Regular Gratitude Journaling

Now don’t feel anxious by hearing this name of journaling. Without making it feel like a task think of journaling in respect of those things that make you grateful, a bit more fun and creative!

First of all, avoid overloading yourself to start with a long list of gratitude that you have to repeat or write down to make gratitude practice a success.

Begin with 1 or 2 gratitude affirmations that you truly feel have made a positive change for being present in your life and you express gratitude for that. For example, when you wake up in the morning find out those things in life that make you feel good. Like a glass of water, you have the first time in the morning which quenches the night-long thirst. Or the water you use to wash yourself up.

These are a few small but very important things in our daily lives that normally we overlook or take for granted.

Imagine if you woke up and came to know that your locality or building/apartment’s water supply would be out of service for a week!

How would that make you feel? Bonkers!!

Try appreciating so many daily things that you enjoy but never pay attention to them with a grateful mind. As you naturally try recognizing these your outlook will enhance to make you see more things that are always your part of life. But you never paid that much attention and appreciation.

Gratitude journaling gets you in this habit of noticing and recognizing the little things in your life to be grateful for!

This practice can be done on a simple paper or many journal books available online and offline markets. You can write down your gratitude in the morning, evening, or both.

There is no fixed time for gratitude practice. Whenever you feel like writing or want to be reminded of the plenty to be grateful for, begin with it.

But if you wake up with the feeling of being grateful in the morning it can shape your day on a bright note! Morning gratitude practice is very special for imbibing thankfulness in your heart for many trivial yet vital things.

A consistent habit of journal practice with gratitude will help you to start your day and end it on a very positive note.

2. Look for Positives during times of Negativity

Painful circumstances are a part of anyone’s life. Instead of brooding in pain and hurt for your own sake find out the positives you are being showered in the heap of negative moments.

You will slowly see what wonderful shift in your mindset starts to set in as you take notice of more thankful moments.

I very well know that it is very easy to say than done. Because these pains sometimes hinder you to see the good things while undergoing any hurtful events in life.

Still allowing yourself to come out of your remorse and try to take note of the good around you takes time and patience.

Allow yourself that time, but always try to find that little ray of light called gratitude in your life. Your happiness will amplify with this mindset shift process.

Whenever you feel it is very hard to shift your mindset towards gratitude during tough times, always think of those people who right now do not even have the basics of life. How blessed you are in respect of so many others!

There will always be someone who has less and others who have more. But the gratitude idea is to feel thankful and happy even having less respect for someone else.

3. Say Thanks Before Receiving the Result

Never wait to say thank you beforehand for anything you are waiting for. This is a way to create an advanced positive impact of gratitude on your wish.

A little token of gratitude makes your heart fill with fulfilling joy. Cultivating gratitude is a gradual process. Your grateful positive mind attracts more positivity in your life.

Always be grateful for the life you have been given. Maybe good health, the roof over your head, clean water to use, and healthy food to eat you are enjoying is a distant dream for another person.

Be thankful for the Universe that Power who has given you so many things in life that make it comfortable and better in respect to others in this world. A grateful mind always adds mental peace and joy.

4. Simplify your Life with Simple Living

Today we are always bombarded with new trends and fashion alluring you to fall into the trap of consuming more. The latest hauls of influencers always make us run to buy more and add clutter to our lives.

Simplifying or decluttering excess to live a simple minimalist lifestyle is a great way to practice gratitude. Because the more you consume or acquire the more that want will go on amplifying until the point of your exhaustion.

Still, you won’t be satisfied with everything that is already yours. Your target will be to fulfill your next trending gadgets or outfit of that store.

I am never saying that you should stop buying stuff and deny yourself a comfortable happy life. But are you really happy after having all those things overstuffed in your home?

Minimize excess clutter by following a simple life which will give you more chances to be grateful for everything you already have in life.

Simple lifestyles make you feel grounded as your mind becomes free of unnecessary. You acknowledge and appreciate what you have been already blessed with.

5. Practice Gratitude every Second of Life

Incorporate gratitude practice every second of your life to feel a constant gratefulness in your heart.

Avoid faking to be grateful. If you genuinely feel something you have in life or you see around you, express gratitude for their presence. But forcing yourself into gratitude practice fails to create a lasting impact on your life.

Your gratitude practice is not limited to journaling or your thankfulness prayer on paper twice a day. As you go on making gratitude a part of your lifestyle you will find new things around you which make your life comfortable. You can even say your gratitude lines in your mind when you feel.

Try making a small gratitude list or write anything that suddenly comes to your notice. You can keep these notes very close to your eyesight so that you are reminded of many blessings in your life.
